The leaves are picked from ancient arbor trees grown at an altitude of 2,200-2,300 meters. These are fully grown tall tea trees that are 200-300 years old and being of this age are very suitable for producing high-quality sheng Pu-erh. High altitude and northerly latitude both make the climate in this area cooler, especially at night. The age of the trees and environmental conditions combine to produce a young sheng Pu-erh that, irrespective of the age, has complex, smooth flavors, and good cha qi. While most raw Pu-erh would require prolonged storage to develop the flavors, this one can be both stored for longer or enjoyed now thanks to the good quality of the raw material used. The tea is rolled into little balls which compresses and intensifies the flavor. It has a pleasant fruity aroma. The clear and bright golden liquor has a light fruity aroma. The taste is smooth, with fruity plum and creamy cereal notes. There is already a good amount of sweetness in this tea even though it has not been aged for a long time. It can be brewed multiple times. Liubao has characteristics of the "steaming" put into big barrels and steamed soft. It is stored for two months before it is finished. Its red color of thick, and the aroma contains a unique betelnut flavor.  It is not Pu-erh, but it is a kind of black tea and has a history of 1,500 years. There is Liubao in cakes, bricks, tuos, coin shapes, and loose leaves in bamboo baskets. The longer it has been stored, the better the taste. There may be golden/yellow color fungi called Golden Flower fungi (Eurotium Cristatum) on Liu Bao Cha and these fungi are an indication of good quality Liu Bao cha. Once brewed this delightful tea has a strong hardwood flavor that remains present throughout many infusions. The mouthfeel becomes increasingly round without a hint of tartness. Be careful when steeping this leaf, as over-steeping it can turn this tea into a pithy and bitter beverage. Naka is a Lahu minority village located at the northern end of Mengsong area, between Menghai and Jinghong. It is a remote area close to the highest peak in Xishuangbanna. The ancient tea trees in this area grow at elevations as high as 5,900 – 6,500 feet. The environment is colder here than in other tea-growing areas of Xishuangbanna, which results in tea trees with slightly smaller leaves and unique aromas. Sheng Pu-Erh (aka raw Pu'er)  is un-fermented when young but microbial activity on the leaf will allow the tea to slowly ferment overtime when the tea is kept under good storage conditions. Sheng Pu-er can be drunk now or stored for years to allow a slow microbial transformation of the tea into something rich and full. Similar to young wines that will, over time, transform into much more substantial wines, Sheng Pu-er is prized by collectors and tea enthusiasts for this ability to age and improve over time. The Naka tea harvesting area is located near the Mengsong/Nannuo tea harvesting areas which are populated by Hani people who own a dense concentration of ancient tea trees. They take their tea and the presence of their tea trees to be a connection to their ancestors.
