2020 Yunnan Pu'er Ripe Tea is a premium post-fermented tea crafted from high-quality tea leaves sourced from ancient tea gardens in Yunnan. Aged for over 5 years, this ripe tea is celebrated for its smooth, mellow profile, rich earthy aroma, and deep amber liquor. The 2020 vintage highlights the unique terroir of Yunnan, with leaves harvested from spring plucking and processed through traditional wo dui fermentation to develop its distinct character.
Origin:Yunnan Province | Sort:Pu'er Ripe Tea (Post-Fermented) | Level:Premium Grade |
Vintage:2020 (Aged 5+ years) | Caffeine:☆☆☆ | Storage:Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place with moderate humidity; allow natural aging in paper or clay containers. |
Traditional Pu'er ripe tea craftsmanship involves 5 key steps: 1. Withering: Fresh spring leaves are air-dried to reduce moisture. 2. Rolling: Leaves are rolled to break cell walls and form loose strips. 3. Wo Dui Fermentation: Piled in heaps and moistened, fermented for 45–60 days at controlled temperatures (40–65°C) to develop earthy notes and smoothness. 4. Drying: Sun-dried or low-temperature baked to halt fermentation. 5. Shaping: Compressed into cakes (bingcha) or bricks for aging.
The dry tea appears as tightly compressed brownish-red cakes with visible golden tips and tender leaves. The aroma is warm and complex, blending aged wood, caramel, and a subtle hint of dried plums, with no sharp bitterness.
Brewed liquor is a deep, translucent amber with a rich, oily sheen. The texture is smooth and velvety, delivering a comforting warmth in every sip.
On the palate, it offers a mellow, full-bodied sweetness with upfront notes of cooked malt, dried dates, and gentle earthiness. The finish is long-lasting and clean, with a subtle huigan (sweet aftertaste) and no astringency. Each infusion reveals layers of complexity, evolving from rich caramel to soft floral undertones over multiple steeps.
Rich in probiotics and theaflavins, this tea supports: - Improved digestion and gut health - Lowered blood lipid levels and cardiovascular support - Stress relief and enhanced relaxation - Enhanced metabolism and weight management - Soothing effects for stomach discomfort
Ideal for Pu'er connoisseurs seeking the depth of aged ripe tea, as well as newcomers to Pu'er for its smooth, non-astringent profile. Perfect for daily consumption, especially after meals, or paired with hearty dishes like braised meats, cheeses, or dark chocolate.
