Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling Eden Valley 2019 Winemaker Notes Light straw in color. When opened and swirled mandarin, lemon cordial and orange blossom aromatics are immediately unleashed. Acquiesces in the citrus spectrum - more so than manifesting Eden Valley’s archetypal floral aromas... a warmer-than-average growing season has left its imprint. Upon closer inspection, hints of lavender talc, lychee and the faintest waft of cardamom spice. No doubting variety, style and region! A slightly fuller Riesling akin to the Bin 51’s of the early 2000’s, no doubt due to the drier and warmer 2019 Eden Valley harvest. Tempting flavours of lemon tea cake, apple strudel with jasmine florals and Tahitian lime leaf round out a palate nevertheless still enlivened by chalky acidity. ‘Softened’ and very approachable now. Recommend more immediate drinking, with medium-term Eden Valley Riesling cellarability. Partake. The 2019 vintage is a story of quality over quantity. Like the rest of South Australia’s growing regions, Eden Valley had a very dry winter and spring. These conditions continued through summer with hot and dry weather in January and February. The prevailing conditions resulted in one of the lowest yielding vintages on record. The resultant dry conditions meant there was no disease pressure. Riesling grapes exhibited terrific varietal character, with bracing natural acidity.

Winemaker Notes The 2020 Pieropan Soave Classico is a brilliant straw yellow color with greenish hints. The delicate nose is reminiscent of almond blossoms and marzipan. Good depth of fruit on the palate, nicely balanced by a zingy acidity that enhances its long length. This wine makes an excellent partner for soups, starters, especially vegetable based such as asparagus, peas, courgette, egg-based dishes or seafood and fresh water fish dishes. It is an excellent aperitif, especially when served with simple canapés. Critical Acclaim Wine Enthusiast Aromas of citrus, wet stone and a delicate whiff of hawthorn waft out of the glass. On the dry, delicious palate, bright acidity accompanies white peach, grapefruit and a saline note before finishing on a hint of white almond. R de Rieussec Blanc Bordeaux
Winemaker Notes The Rieussec "R" is produced on the Château Rieussec estate, 1st Classified Growth in Sauternes. It is partly from the same vines that will give Sauternes. The fermentation is done for 20% in barrels. This technique gives the wine a good aging potential while preserving as much as possible the freshness and the fruit of the grapes. James Suckling Very aromatic with cooked pears, lemon rind, peaches and stone. This is very powerful and rich with depth and intensity that show superb power. Dense and foursquare with wild fruit. It’s phenolic and exciting. Needs a little time to soften the edges. Try after 2020.
