This bright green-gold just off-dry Riesling has a delicate, irresistible nose, with passion fruit, white flowers, honeyed citrus, and dried honey moving in and out of the foreground, alternating with white peaches, pink grapefruit, lemon zest, and a fleeting suggestion of sweet wood smoke as the nose evolves in the glass. On the palate, the wine is a juicy explosion, shimmering with voltaic tension between delicate sweetness and electrifying apple and lime citric acidity. But you never notice sweetness or acidity separately. Pure green apple, white cranberry, tangerine, and stone fruit flavors, all seasoned with palpable saline minerality, lead to a long emphatic finish, with plenty of fresh acidity, depth, and cut.

It would be no exaggeration to say Weingut Keller consistently produce the finest dry Rieslings in the world, a fact proven year after year since Klaus-Peter Keller took over the reins from his father in 2001. Along with his wife Julia, Klaus-Peter has continued to prioritise the quality of dry wine produced at the estate, and these are now some of the most sought after and collected wines on the planet. Richer and more spicy than in some vintages. There’s power in this wine that would probably be a Grosses Gewächs in the portfolio of most other producers. The original Huët vineyard is nearly 9 hA. It has the richest soils of the domaine’s three crus - a deep limestone-clay - and the wines are generally the estate’s most approachable. In some vintages, small quantities from nearby estate parcels may be added to Le Haut-Lieu.

This great vintage of Petit Cheval reveals the complexity of the wine. One should easily find white fruits and floral notes that intertwine mineral. The crunchy and juicy mouth develops a beautiful fullness in the mid-palate that demonstrates the long maturation in wood tanks.

Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling Eden Valley 2019 Winemaker Notes Light straw in color. When opened and swirled mandarin, lemon cordial and orange blossom aromatics are immediately unleashed. Acquiesces in the citrus spectrum - more so than manifesting Eden Valley’s archetypal floral aromas... a warmer-than-average growing season has left its imprint. Upon closer inspection, hints of lavender talc, lychee and the faintest waft of cardamom spice. No doubting variety, style and region! A slightly fuller Riesling akin to the Bin 51’s of the early 2000’s, no doubt due to the drier and warmer 2019 Eden Valley harvest. Tempting flavours of lemon tea cake, apple strudel with jasmine florals and Tahitian lime leaf round out a palate nevertheless still enlivened by chalky acidity. ‘Softened’ and very approachable now. Recommend more immediate drinking, with medium-term Eden Valley Riesling cellarability. Partake. The 2019 vintage is a story of quality over quantity. Like the rest of South Australia’s growing regions, Eden Valley had a very dry winter and spring. These conditions continued through summer with hot and dry weather in January and February. The prevailing conditions resulted in one of the lowest yielding vintages on record. The resultant dry conditions meant there was no disease pressure. Riesling grapes exhibited terrific varietal character, with bracing natural acidity.

100% Chardonnay  Kistler is a true standard bearer of quality in California. Blossom and white flowers on the nose and loads of dense but well balanced fruit - peach, apricots, pineapple and pear - on the palate. A fine and complex smorgasbord of fruit. 30 year old vines. Les Noisetiers is a combination of specific lots from within Kistler’s vineyards of designated quality that are situated in far western Sonoma County, near the coast. They began creating Les Noisetiers upon noting that there was an inherent mineral tone which they loved in the lots from their vineyards planted in these coastal sandy Gold Ridge soils. Hand harvested in September. Native yeast fermentation in French oak barrels. Aged on its lees in the same French oak barrels for 11-18 months in their subterranean, gravel floor barrel rooms. Bottled unfiltered and unfined. 422 barrels produced. Pair with: rich poultry, pork and pasta dishes.
