This wine delivers the epitome of complexity and depth. The combination of warm climate and alluvial and gravelly loam soil found on our estate is ideal for creating balanced wines of concentration and richness. The palate is full bodied with multi-layered flavors of black cherry, currant, tobacco and graphite.

  • Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

    Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Winemaker Notes Petit Verdot, even in the small quantities present in this wine, exudes its signature textural density and floral nose of purple and blue flowers that complement Cabernet’s macerated red and blue fruit so well. Cassis, graphite and crushed rock follow through on the palate, with a vibrant, cherry cola tone that rings in the finish. The fruit for this wine was harvested from predominantly young vines, and their youthful energy resonates on the palate. It is medium in weight with a supple, juicy core of blackberries that is lifted by hints of red licorice and spice. There is an expansiveness on the finish as the tannins coat the palate. The tannins themselves are very dusty, like a cherry-flavored talcum powder. Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot Loads of blue fruits and wet earth with hints of mushrooms. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a savory finish. Edgy fresh acidity. Lightly chewy. Needs two or three years to soften but already beautiful. --James Suckling

  • Le C des Carmes Haut Brion Pessac Leognan 2017

Le C des Carmes Haut Brion Pessac Leognan 2017

96 points Vinous One of the real highlights of the vintage, the 2017 Les Carmes Haut-Brion possesses off the charts aromatic intensity and tremendous depth. An exotic mélange of sweet tobacco, menthol, rose petal, licorice, dried herbs and sweet dark fruit builds in a wine endowed with extraordinary beauty. Energetic and vibrant to the core, Les Carmes Haut-Brion was magnificent on the three occasions I have tasted it so far. Don't miss it. (AG)

  • Le Clementin de Pape Clement Rouge, Pessac-Leognan, 2018

Le Clementin de Pape Clement Rouge, Pessac-Leognan, 2018

Clementin de Pape Clement Pessac-Leognan 2015 Winemaker Notes With their smoky and spicy bouquet, the red wines are of an admirable quality and a very characteristic softness. The wine is both concentrated, fine and harmonious, with an aromatic palette as wide as it is precise. The depth and length in the mouth are exceptional. Quality of the terroir, sustained efforts and dynamism have borne fruit bringing Pape Clément to a level very close to that of the premiers crus. Critical Acclaim Jeb Dunnuck Coming from 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc brought up in 60% new French oak, the 2018 Château Pape Clement from Bernard Magrez is a gorgeous wine that's performing even better from bottle than barrel, which is always a good sign. Deep ruby/purple, with stunning crème de cassis and blackberry fruits as well as kaleidoscope-like notes of graphite, scorched earth, smoke, violets, and spring flowers, it offers full-bodied richness yet stays light on its feet, graceful, and almost ethereal on the palate, with integrated acidity and building yet seamless tannin's. The Cabernet Sauvignon really sings at this point, and there's almost a Médoc-like regalness here. Reminding me of a slightly more elegant 2005 (it also has similarities to the 2016), it will benefit from 4-6 years in the cellar and keep for 30+ years.
