  • Villa Maria "Ngakirikiri" Cabernet Sauvignon Gimblett Gravels 2018

Villa Maria "Ngakirikiri" Cabernet Sauvignon Gimblett Gravels 2018

Winemaker Notes Upon pouring, the deep-ruby hued 2018 vintage gradually unfolds fragrant aromatics of cassis, violets and complex wood spices, with graphite, thyme and clove also emerging from the glass. Layers of concentrated flavours are revealed across a medium to full bodied frame, with ripe fruit and hints of black olive and cigar, all wrapped by fine-grained tannins and supportive oak, enhancing texture and richness from start to finish. This vintage will benefit and gain additional complexity from careful cellaring over the next 15+ years. Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 2% Malbec Critical Acclaim WE95 Wine Enthusiast Villa Maria's top red, a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux blend, is named for the Maori word for gravel, referring to its famed Gimblett Gravels soils. This is a wine made for the long haul although even now, with ample time open in bottle or decanter, reveals finesse and character. The fruit is dark and fleshy with a spine of leafy green herbs, violet, tomato stem and baking spice. The palate is satiny yet toned and elegant, with linear, taut tannins, and currently quite a lot of oak influence. A worthy addition to any red-lover's cellar. Drink 2025–2045.Cellar Selection RP94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2018 Ngakirikiri is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 2% Malbec, all aged in 60% new French oak for 20 months. Despite the barrel regime, the concentrated fruit easily comes through, offering up pristine aromas of cassis and plum, later accented on the finish by hints of dark chocolate and vanilla bean. Richly concentrated and velvety in texture, with a long, plush finish, this medium to full-bodied wine should drink well for over a decade.

  • Vin Perdu 2021

    Vin Perdu 2021

2021 VIN PERDU NAPA VALLEY RED BLEND We've all asked ourselves the proverbial question: If I were stranded on an island with only one bottle of wine, what bottle would that be This age-old and daunting conundrum inspired this year's label. You will find that the label not only tackles the question (man stranded, what to drink) but… with a mere twist of the wrist — or a quick flip of the lenticular image — it also poses a solution: drink more wine while the going is good! Why wait for the cliche stranding, the next climate event, economic upheaval? We produce Vin Perdu, our "lost wine," with the philosophy that no good wine should be wasted, and we all should seize every moment lest we lose them forever. After a two-year hiatus due to the smoke-tainted vintage in 2020, we are pleased to offer you an allocation of Vin Perdu 2021 Napa Valley Red Blend. This wine sells out quickly due to its deliciously complex contents, great-value price point and one-of-kind label. Heidi's Vin Perdu 2021 blend consists of 67.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.7% Syrah and 14.9% Cabernet Franc from our Napa Valley vineyards. This vintage yielded close to 700 cases. Allocations of Vin Perdu 2021 are available by six pack at $95/bottle. You will notice five-liter Jeroboams on the order form. We produced a small quantity of these large formats, signed by Heidi, and they are available on a first-in basis.

  • Vina Sena 2010

    Vina Sena 2010

Winemaker Notes Deep violet-ruby-red in color. Sena is complex and intense on the nose, with abundant fresh red fruit that recalls raspberries and cherries harmoniously mingled with notes of cinnamon and red tobacco, along with a light touch of incense and cedar. The palate confirms what the nose perceived and shows a predominance of red fruit nicely accompanied by sweet spices, a balsamic touch, and flavours that recall hazelnuts and walnuts. Vibrantly textured with fine-grained tannins lend liveliness and structure to the blend in a wine that is long and very elegant. With refreshing acidity, all signs point to a wine with tremendous longevity in the bottle. Blend: 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Carmenere,12% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot Critical Acclaim Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2010 Sena is more generous on the nose than the 2009, with crisp, ripe blackberry, boysenberry and graphite notes that are tightly coiled and, at the moment, not as expressive as the 2009. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is silky smooth in the mouth, harmonious and the oak is deftly interwoven into the structure. This is a sophisticated Sena. Drink 2014-2022.

Vineyard 29 Ceanda St Helena Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

The 2018 vintage is no exception and introduces itself with explosive notes of blue and black fruits complimented by hints of signature violets and cocoa powder. Rich and decadent upon entry with flavors of chocolate covered blueberries and cassis that guide the way to a seamlessly rich mid palate. Significant in weight but velvet in texture this wine is dark, structured and beautifully graceful. Mouthwatering acidity carries through the seemingly endless finish. This hand selected, meticulously crafted Estate Cabernet is only beginning to show what it is capable of and will continue to evolve over the next 20 years. THE VINTAGE The 2018 growing season began with a mild, beautiful Spring which extended flowering and provided ideal conditions for berry set, thus yielding uniform grape clusters. Temperatures were warm and steady throughout the summer, with very few heat spikes or dry wind patterns which were quite impactful during the 2017 growing season. The 2018 harvest began approximately two weeks later than the previous few vintages and it continued until the end of October. There was a minor rain event on October 2nd and 3rd but it did not negatively impact grape quality. It simply provided a break in the harvest as we allowed for a few dry out days before resuming the harvest. This long, drawn out, bountiful harvest yielded beautiful, dense, concentrated wines with intense color and a unique freshness to them. THE VINEYARD Our 29 Estate Vineyard sits on a hillside just at the “pinch” of Napa Valley’s hourglass shape. Excellent airflow provides natural frost protection, while the fertile clay loam soils encourage deeply rooted vines, yielding powerfully concentrated cabernet sauvignon tempered by markedly floral, velvet elegance and explosive aromatic.

  • Vinyes Domenech Vi D'Amfora Natural 2020

Vinyes Domenech Vi D'Amfora Natural 2020

Vinyes Domènech is a family project started Joan Ignaci and his wife, Rita, in Capçanes, in the south of Priorat. Together with their sons, they biodynamically farm 15 hectares of recovered old-vines vineyards. From an amphitheatre vineyard surrounded by forest at 600m, this biodynamic garnacha is rooted in red clay and limestone, and is produced without adding SO2. After a native ferment, this aged in 300L amphora. An intoxicating nose of perfumed wildflowers, musk, scrubby herbs, rockrose, pink peppercorns continues through this medium bodied wine, shaped with a finely grippy amphora texture and fine, sculpted tannins. There is an easy, buoyant, mountainous acidity streaming this to the botanical finish. Very characterful.

  • Weingut Jager Steinfeder Gruner Veltline 2022

Weingut Jager Steinfeder Gruner Veltline 2022

Jager is a 5th generation estate located in the incredibly picturesque hamlet of Weissenkirsch in the southern Wachau. It is a tiny, five-hectare estate comprised of some of the best vineyard sites in this appellation, including Klaus and Achleiten. The trellised vineyards run steeply along the Wachau, following her contours and turning in the direction in which she runs. The wines are usually fermented in stainless steel, except in the rare vintages where he has enough to fill an old, large oak barrel. Besides the fact that these wines are hallmark examples of the terroir in which they grow, they are less expensive than their more famous neighbors who produce wine in the same vineyards. Our only complaint is that there is not enough wine!
