Adding water, the sweeter elements come out more, with oak showing more with water. There’s an underlying fall spice that shows in the finish. And the finish is long and very pleasant, with notes of roasted nuts. This high-proof bourbon is made by the Willett distillery. The blend contains a range of bourbons, aged 4-20 years. Full of warm spices, brown sugar, cream, toasted nuts, and a whiff of mint.

Fresh, vibrant and nuanced, it conveys a compelling sense of translucence, and retains elegance and finesse even with its distinctly super-ripe, racy feel. This is the first vintage in which Bedrock had complete control of farming during the entire year, and it shows in the positively brilliant 2020. Sadly, Bedrock lost 30% of the Carignan in 2020, so the blend is a bit different than in the past. (AG)"

The wine is full bodied with considerable alcohol that is well balanced by its bright, refreshing acidity and rich fruit. The finish is long and mouthcoating with dark fruits and earthiness. This is a collectible wine - promising to age for another two decades.

Wine Critic Reviews: This wine has a lovely complexity with balance and lift and does that thing where it waits for a heartbeat, then makes you wait for a heartbeat, before releasing its stone fruit and succulent, slate-tinged citrus.The plots are on the west side of the appellation, often 1.5oC lower than at main Lynch Bages, with more limestone in the subsoils helping keep the balance that is evident here.Two thirds of the juice was fermented in barrels with one third in stainless steel – it’s juicy and pretty much ready to go (it bottles in two weeks). 50% new oak used. 3.08pH. Winemaker Notes Beginning in 1993 and following in the tradition of great Bordeaux estates, Opus One created a fine second wine called Overture. Every acre of the estate vineyard is meticulously farmed with the attention to detail and singular focus required to produce Opus One. This scrutiny carries through the blending process and certain lots will not be included in the final Opus One blend. Yet, when these lots are afforded additional time in barrel along with the added flexibility of blending across multiple vintages, the final wine achieves a remarkable elegance and complexity. Overture displays a vibrant garnet color with expressive aromas of fresh red fruit. Notes of bright cherry and red currant are underpinned by more earthy tones of ground cocoa, cedar and vanilla. Extended barrel aging gives the wine an elegant texture accentuated by round tannins and a soft mouthfeel.

Wine Advocate-Parker :A strong effort from proprietor Philippe Castéja, the 2012 Trottevieille has an inky, opaque purple color with plenty of blueberry and blackcurrant fruit, licorice, earth and subtle background oak. It is medium to full-bodied, with excellent texture, long persistence on the palate and impressive purity. All are impressive and evidence of a very top effort from this property that always seems to be capable of producing even greater wine than it actually does. No one is going to be disappointed in the 2012. It has an anticipated maturity of 2020-2035.
