Hickinbotham Clarendon Vyd Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Hickinbotham Clarendon Vyd Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Winemaker Notes Hickinbotham Clarendon Vyd Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon McLaren Vale 2015 This is the most homogenized, smoothly-assimilated Cabernet in recent years from Hickinbotham, reminiscent of those made by Stephen Hickinbotham in the early ‘eighties. While its aromas of bergamot and blueberry have yet to lock in and settle, the palate’s already there: fine, fresh and strapping. It’s an elegant, savory wine now, but will smooth out and flesh up to memorable opulence with a decade or two in the cellar.

  • Hourglass Blueline Estate Merlot 2015

    Hourglass Blueline Estate Merlot 2015

Winemaker Notes The 2015 Merlot is dark and brooding, akin to the 2008 vintage. Yeasty blackberry cobbler, Asian spice, exotic Mandarin orange peel, and a touch of graphite defines its aromatics. Explosive, rich, dark very complex layers of delicious fruit evoke blackberry, sour cherry, crème de cassis and an intriguing note of Hoisin. The texture has a rounded suppleness, with a firm spine from its Cabernet component to tighten the structural core and add a trailing finish. The finish is long and expansive. Amazingly approachable now, this wine has the stuffing to age gracefully and could outrun common assertions of age-ability for Merlot. The 2015 Merlot should hit its peak in 2020-2022, and may be great for many years after. Blend: 81% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Cabernet Franc

Hundred Acre Wraith Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Hundred Acre Wraith Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Winemaker Notes Wraith is a fusion of all three Hundred Acre single vineyard estates, but not just three wines blended together, that would be boring and muddled. Winemaker Jason Woodbridge chose these barrels for their perfect expression of only the ultra-unique qualities of the vintage and vineyard sites. These qualities are carefully woven together to create a super-intense, wildly fine structured, matchless expression of Hundred Acre, while at the same time still being able to see clearly the singular and exceptional characteristics of ARK, Kayli Morgan and Few and Far Between single vineyards that year through a single lens. Critical Acclaim Jeb Dunnuck The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith is one of those wines that would be a perfect example of the expression “iron fist in a velvet glove.” Full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful, it has that classic 2018 frame that carries pure darker currant and cassis fruits as well as complex notes of leather, licorice, and spring flowers. This layered, multi-dimensional, perfectly balanced 2018 will reward 3-4 years of bottle age and cruise for 20-25 years. Rating: 98+ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate A blend of fruit from the three single vineyards, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith offers up more cherries and cranberries beautifully complemented by deep loam and mocha undertones. It's full-bodied, lush and velvety in texture, with a long, vibrant finish. It's even a bit tart. Rating: 97+

  • Immortal Slope Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

    Immortal Slope Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Product Highlights Sonoma Valley, California- The wine is dense, ripe and powerful, an effusive vortex of blackberry, toast, brown sugar, allspice, cassis, dark chocolate, earl grey tea, mint, anise, sugar cookie, chai, and tarragon. The palate is massive, but fruit sweet, supple and creamy. The magnificently steep vineyards of Immortal Estate are among the steepest in California, planted on a dramatic 55-degree slope on the Mayacamas range. The winery was formerly known as Hidden Ridge, and in 2019, Tusk Proprietor Tim Martin partnered up with Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and Supermodel Kate Upton as the winery’s owners. Winemaker Tim Milos made wine at Opus One, Stag’s Leap, and Cliff Lede and has two 100-Point wines under his belt, so it’s no wonder Immortal wines receive high scores from enthusiasts and critics with each new vintage. Individual barrels from eight lots were selected for the final blend of the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon producing complexly flavored, concentrated, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja CVNE

    Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja CVNE

97 points James Suckling  This is very ripe with blackberries, dried fruit, toasted oak and black licorice on the nose. Full-bodied with ultra-fine, linear tannins and a racy, refined finish. This has fantastic structure and length. It goes on for minutes. It needs time to open and refine even more. One of the best Imperiale Gran Reservas in a very long time.  (9/2021) 95 points John Gilman  The 2015 Imperial Gran Reserva is crafted from a constellation of eighty-five percent Tempranillo, ten percent Graciano and five percent Mazuelo this year. Like the Contino Gran Reserva, this wine tips the scales at fourteen percent alcohol in 2015 and offers up a pure, nascently complex and sappy nose of black raspberries, black cherries, Cuban cigar wrapper, a lovely base of soil tones, toasted coconut, a touch of cedar, fresh nutmeg and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, refined, deep and full, with a great core of fruit, impeccable focus and balance, ripe, firm tannins and a long, tangy and nascently complex finish. This is going to be an absolutely superb vintage of Imperial Gran Reserva, but it is even younger than the Viña Real Gran Reserva out of the blocks and will need a bit more cellaring to soften up. In due course, it is going to be a stunning wine! (Drink between 2031-2080)  (6/2021)

  • Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Burgundy 2017

    Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Burgundy 2017

it used to be planted mostly to red before many growers replanted to Chardonnay.  This is a shame as Chassagne-Montrachet offers some fantastic examples of classical Red Burgundy, some at a more reasonable price than it's more notable and expensive neighbors. For this bottling, Pillot exploits over a hectare of vineyards planted in 1960 (55+ years old) to Pinot Noir at the village level. This is a robust, cherry-flavored wine of strength and vigor.
