Domaine d'Eugenie Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Aux Brulees 2008

Description

Mid cherry red. Smells richer, deeper and riper on the nose than the Clos d’Eugénie, generous dark-red fruit. You hardly see the oak the fruit is so alive. Ripe and rounded on the palate, incredibly gentle and caressing but has depth and fullness in the mouth. Again that delicate slightly floral touch in the fruit, so fragrant and approachable. On the finish, there’s a touch more savoury character, a little more spice, more grounded and less flirtations. Incredibly long and pure. - Jancis Robinson

Domaine d’Eugenie is amongst the largest owners of Aux Brûlées – owning a substantial part of the south-facing parcels in the northern part of the appellation. This Aux Brûlées is from the hotter northern side, but in 2017 the balance is clear and very enjoyable. It’s slightly smoky with generous fruit – charming and intense – with a delicate and light-footed expression. SO - Winehog

Moderate reduction knocks down the underlying fruit though there is good freshness to the relatively concentrated medium weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the focused, powerful and saline finish that is youthfully austere. This should be very good in time as the underlying material appears to be excellent. - Allen Medows, Burghound
