Average vine age for this wine is 55 years and yields are commonly reduced to 45hl/ha. Like all the wines, it is pressed slowly and gently, is cold stabilized, and undergoes a long, cool alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel. Following the fermentation, the wine is racked and aged on the fine lees in tank. This Vouvray is at once focused and tender. It is replete with ripe, yellow fruit aromas.

Intensive citrus and yellow flowers aroma. Powerful, complex and well-balanced with more than average acidity. Yellow fruits fresh: grapefruits/passion fruits/ripe lemons/yellow plums and some light minerality. Very interesting wine.

Clear, medium, yellow. Nose: Delicious tones of mature green fruit. Delicious mature yellow apple tones, lime and lemon citrus. Hint of white peach, papaya and green apples. Palate: Smooth, vibrant, minerality and so elegant. Such intense fruit quality. The nose joins the palate. Intense minerality tones, toasty barrel, but balanced. Complex and generous. Long finish. A delicious Blanchots grand cru. Laroche is big and comercial, but it is hard to med up Chablis grand cru. This is so elegant and good.

The Kistler plantings on Sonoma Mountain, situated on a hillside bench perfectly suited for growing world class Chardonnay, are interlaced with the rare combination of red volcanic and fine grained chalky soils. The vineyards are planted to California Heritage clones that were selected specifically over the last 30 years to ripen to our balanced wine standards. They are some of the oldest Chardonnay vineyards in Sonoma County. When coupled with the selections in the vineyard the textbook growing conditions afford a wine that is decidedly Sonoma Mountain in character. Medium gold colour. Moderate nose of green pear, lime, hazelnut, and toast. Dry, complex palate reflective of the nose with additional notes of popcorn, a touch of butter, and high chalk minerality with high acidity. Full bodied. Long finish evolving from initial citric acidity to lingering saline and chalky minerality.

Delicious but probably just about as far as I would want to push it age wise. Nice riesling fruit with the petrol edge allied to honeysuckle, citrus notes, tangerine specifically. Palate is midweight with good fruit intensity at the front then the dart of slate acidity. Lovely aperitif. --Fraser Jamieson

2021 Honig "Classic" Napa / Lake County Sauvignon Blanc Winery notes: 97% Sauvignon Blanc, 1.4% Sauvignon Gris, 1.3% Semillon 0.3% Muscat (66% Napa County, 34% Lake County) . The fruit for this wine comes from our sustainably farmed vineyard in Rutherford, as well as other nearby vineyards. The grapes were harvested during the cooler night-time and early morning temperatures, preserving the inherent aromas and flavors. The juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks using a variety of yeast strains selected to enrich the aroma and flavor profiles of Sauvignon Blanc. An enticing mix of honeysuckle, peach and tropical fruit aromas to a luxurious blend of floral, stone fruit and a mélange of citrus flavors on the palate. The wine is simultaneously elegant and rich, perfectly balanced from the gorgeous nose all the way through the lengthy, layered finish.
