  • Solaia Antinori Toscana IGT Rosso 2008

Solaia Antinori Toscana IGT Rosso 2008

Winemaker Notes The 1997 vintage of this wine was ranked #1 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2000 Intense ruby red in color, this wine displays classic Cabernet Sauvignon character with intense fruit-driven romas of ripe cherries and blackberrieswithout excessive hints of oak. Generous and smooth on the palate with soft, gentle and balancedtannins. Distinctive varietal notes meld together harmoniously with a long and wonderfully persistent finish. James Suckling Wonderful pure Cabernet character, with currants, spices, flowers and violets. Velvety and fresh. Long and intense. Less austere than the 2007 with very sweet and ripe tannins. Such beauty. This is really powerful. Give it three to four years before trying a bottle.

  • Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso Sicily 2016

Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso Sicily 2016

Ruby red in color, this wine has spicy pepper aromas with notes of black currant and mountain herbs. The texture is vibrant and with soft, supple tannins, reminiscent of a great Pinot Noir. Critical Acclaim James Suckling From the moment you hang your nose in the glass, it’s clear that there are plenty of ripe plums, but not the slightest hint of prune character. However, there is a ton of subtle, herbal nuances in here, too. Powerful and concentrated with plenty of healthy tannins that carry the long, dry finish. Drink or hold. Jeb Dunnuck In the same mold, the 2016 Etna Rosso offers a rocking perfume of blueberries, wild strawberries, garrigue, and damp earth-like minerality. This incredibly perfumed, floral wine hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a tight, focused texture, terrific purity, and a great finish. As with the 2015, it's not a massive wine and has an almost Pinot Noir-like elegance and weight. It's another singular effort to drink over the coming 5-7+ years.

  • Broglia Gavi La Meirana DOCG 2021

Broglia Gavi La Meirana DOCG 2021

Sourced from the Tenuta La Meirana in the Gavi di Gavi DOCG. The oldest document which states the origin of the name “Gavi” is preserved at the record Office in Genova mentions vineyard and chestnut woods on a spot called Meirana. That document dates back to 971 A.D.The Cortese varietal grape vines here average 30 years of age. After hand harvest, the grapes are fermented in Stainless steel tanks and aged there on the lees 6 months before bottling.James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Lightly honeyed lemon aromas with hints of dried herbs and orange zest. Full-bodied with a dense, silky mineral underlay to the bright, lemony flavors. Despite the density here, it remains bright through the long finish. Drink now."

  • Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino 2017

    Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino 2017

James Suckling 96 points, James Suckling, www.jamessuckling.com: “Sweet berry, orange peel, cedar, bark and forest flower aromas follow through to a medium to full body, with linear and fine tannins and a crunchy undertone. It’s very subtle and fresh for a 2017. Crisp and vivid. It’s refined and acid-driven. Needs three to four years more to soften. Try after 2026.” 04/23 Other 96 Points, Aubrey Frick, www.jebdunnuck.com: “The 2017 Brunello Di Montalcino is surprising in its freshness, considering the warmth of the vintage, and speaks to the cooler, northern-facing exposition of the estate. It is refined with ripe red cherry, raspberry, anise, and incense and is fresh with cherry fruit, warming spices, macchia, and herbes de Provence. It is ripe though it maintains a medium frame, with well-managed tannins and balanced acidity. It is a lovely and charming wine and is rather approachable now. Drink 2024-2040.” 03/23

  • Tenuta San Guido Le Difese Toscana IGT 2021

Tenuta San Guido Le Difese Toscana IGT 2021

Winemaker Notes Bright red with purple nuances. Respectable acidity and PH and a beautiful balance of musts that are well structured but harmonious and fruity. Blending wines with a non-invasive structure, a good balance in terms of acidity and density of the wine, combined with soft and well-integrated tannins. Beautiful spiciness. A pleasant palate of every day wine drinking, with juicy red fruits. A very good wine that is meant to be enjoyed young. Pair with grilled steak or steak salad, hamburgers and other casual but flavorful beef dishes. Has good acidity to compliment marinara and bolognese sauces. Critical Acclaim Vinous The 2021 Le Difese is redolent of crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and sweet pipe tobacco. Medium in body yet nicely layered, the 2021 is impeccably balanced. It is also a sheer delight to taste at this early stage. In many vintages, Le Difese is a fruity, forward wine, but the 2021 has a nervy feeling of classicism that is hugely appealing. It's one of my favorite recent vintages. As it has been for some time, Le Difese is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate and Sangiovese purchased from several properties in Chianti Classico, with the energy of Sangiovese very much driving the feel in this vintage. Decanter Le Difese in 2021 sports a majority of Sangiovese – 55% – in a break from the traditional 70/30 split in favour of Cabernet Sauvignon. Third-generation at Tenuta San Guido, Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta, explained that this decision was made to enhance the wine's 'local Tuscan' character, and to improve its drinkability early on as 'a first step into the Tenuta San Guido world.' While the Cabernet is grown on the estate, the Sangiovese is sourced, as always, from long–term partners based in Chianti Rufina. Bright, incredibly vibrant red, black and blue fruits introduce subtle, finely grained tannins with notes of wood and chocolate. It's at once juicy, tangy and crunchy, with good ripeness and great acidity. Matured for eight months in used barriques.

  • Montepeloso A Quo Toscana Rosso 2021

Montepeloso A Quo Toscana Rosso 2021

Winemaker Notes The wine exhibits a dark bright color. The nose is dominated by dark red fruits, herbal notes, intermixed with spicy aromas and mineral notes. On the palate there is a nice tension. The texture is mineral combined again with hints of black fruits and aromatic woods. Blend: 30% Montepulciano, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 %Sangiovese, 10% Marselan, 10% Alicante Critical Acclaim James Suckling A firm and silky red with blackberry and blueberry character with some hints of cream. Medium-bodied with polished tannins and a fresh finish. Racy and refined at the end.

  • Biondi-Santi Rosso di Tenuta Greppo 2019

Biondi-Santi Rosso di Tenuta Greppo 2019

Aromas of sliced citrus, cherry and flowers follow through to a medium body, with creamy tannins and crunchy fruit at the finish. Lovely combination of fruit and acidity. Very drinkable now but will age nicely.--JAMES SUCKLING The 2019 Rosso Di Montalcino is pure and energetic, with ripe cherry fruit, rose petals, orange zest, and spice. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and ripe, soft, supple fruit throughout, it is energetic and long on the palate, with a soft, coating mineral texture. Elegant, pure, and warming on the finish, with no harsh edges, its floral perfume lingers with notes of lavender, red berries, and refreshing salinity.  --JEB DUNNUCK

Rizzi Barbaresco Riserva 'Boito', DOCG 2016

WINEMAKER'S NOTES: A muscular and classic Barbaresco with long aging potential. Ripe plum, violet, leather and licorice greet the nose and flow through the palate. Enrico Dellapiana uses “both hands” to create Riserva Boito: one to make the wine, the other to paint the original label for each vintage. 2016 is an homage to Kobe and Gianna Bryant, and his personal history and love of basketball. 100% Nebbiolo; alcohol: 15%; grown in the upper “saddle” of the Rizzi Cru, on geologically younger soils, more clayey-calcareous and deeper; hand harvested 10/1 – 10/2016; fermented in stainless steel tanks < 30º C for 4 weeks; 1 month malolactic fermentation; aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 20 months; aged in bottle until 50 months after harvest; 2016 label designed and hand painted by Enrico Dellapiana, in homage to Kobe and Gianna Bryant and Enrico’s love of basketball.
