This blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc offers aromas of blackberry cobbler with dark jammy fruit, clove spice and black licorice. Plum and black cherry flavors are balanced by notes of dried herbs, slate and tea on a lingering dry finish. Plenty of structure and integrated tannins make this delicious now, but and age worthy wine as well.

Winemaker Notes An intense mix of fresh boysenberry, black cherry and plum jump from the glass with cocoa powder, allspice and nutmeg. Its earthy elements of our rocky northern California hillsides include Bay Laurel, sage, cedar, dry red earth which speak to its origins. Supple and balanced tannins of this rich wine lead to a long savory finish with hints of graphite and star anise. It is approachable now and built to cellar.

Every acre of the estate vineyard is meticulously farmed with the attention to detail and singular focus required to produce Opus One. This scrutiny carries through the blending process and certain lots will not be included in the final Opus One blend. Yet, when these lots are afforded additional time in barrel along with the added flexibility of blending across multiple vintages, the final wine achieves a remarkable elegance and complexity. Overture displays a vibrant garnet color with expressive aromas of fresh red fruit. Notes of bright cherry and red currant are underpinned by more earthy tones of ground cocoa, cedar and vanilla. Extended barrel aging gives the wine an elegant texture accentuated by round tannins and a soft mouthfeel.

Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the eastern side of the Napa Valley aged in small French Oak barrels for more than 2 years. The slightly smaller lot for 2014 – shows focus and depth of Cabernet Sauvignon. We estimate that this wine will evolve for two decades or more.

Ad Vivum Cellars Ad Vivum Cellars is a partnership between legendary Napa winemaker Chris Phelps and Larry Bettinelli, a vineyard manager who is also a fifth-generation Napa Valley farmer. In 2005 Phelps began experimenting with fruit from the Bettinelli Family Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. The single-vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Ad Vivum is made in very small quantities of about 2,000 bottles or fewer.

Winemaker Notes The 2016 Crown Point Cabernet Sauvignon is a full, rich, and beautiful wine that beckons both the nose and palate with a sense of textural generosity and aromatic complexity. Blue and black fruits are beautifully woven through its powerful core of minerality, accented by subtle notes of cocoa & toasted spices. This wine possesses an energy and freshness that indicates a long life ahead of it. Mother Nature graced the estate with a near-perfect growing season in 2016. Conditions in the vineyard were optimal for producing evenly ripe, concentrated fruit, which displayed rich, developed tannins right off of the vine. In keeping with tradition, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from multiple blocks on the estate, from a range of clones that all contribute different expressions of the variety to the wine. Small quantities of the other four noble Bordelaise varieties were added to the final blend for polish and complexity. All of the blocks were harvested & fermented separately, and the individual components were blended after 12 months of élevage in barrel.
