The 2020 El Jabali Chardonnay has a pretty, bright gold color. In the glass, it has notes off mellow jasmine, white flowers and a hint of herbs. Fruit sourced from core vineyards on Santa Rosa Rd corridor of Sta. Rita Hills. Ruby in color. Aromas of cedar, some earthy notes, darker and more brudding than the Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. More fleshy, rich, ripe, more integrated with a soft mid-palate. Great acidity, great length and balance with fine tannins. Like her father before her saw in the Opus One project, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild saw the potential to create a world-class claret from these own-rooted, 37 year old vines on purely alluvial soils high in the “Puente Alto” zone of the Maipo Valley. James Suckling gushes “The aromas of iodine and blackcurrants with roses and lavender make the wine extremely perfumed. It’s full-bodied with a tight, fine-tannined palate that shows linear flow through the center palate. Ruby red in color, this wine has spicy pepper aromas with notes of black currant and mountain herbs. The texture is vibrant and with soft, supple tannins, reminiscent of a great Pinot Noir. Critical Acclaim James Suckling From the moment you hang your nose in the glass, it’s clear that there are plenty of ripe plums, but not the slightest hint of prune character. However, there is a ton of subtle, herbal nuances in here, too. Powerful and concentrated with plenty of healthy tannins that carry the long, dry finish. Drink or hold. Jeb Dunnuck In the same mold, the 2016 Etna Rosso offers a rocking perfume of blueberries, wild strawberries, garrigue, and damp earth-like minerality. This incredibly perfumed, floral wine hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a tight, focused texture, terrific purity, and a great finish. As with the 2015, it's not a massive wine and has an almost Pinot Noir-like elegance and weight. It's another singular effort to drink over the coming 5-7+ years.

The 2018 Altagracia Cabernet Sauvignon unfolds with a nose of intense black fruit, wild blueberries and fresh black currants with a whiff of dried violets and tobacco. The mouthfeel is ample but firm with mineral notes of volcanic rock, forest humus and hints of dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine shows great depth thanks to extended maceration, with a refined texture of tight-knit tannins supporting the energetic black and blue fruits. As the wine opens, layers of floral notes, peppercorn and cardamom add to the complexity. The long finish lingers with a touch of licorice. This is a very pure and elegant Altagracia. Deep purple-black in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Altagracia slowly grows on the nose, developing into profound scents of black currant cordial, baked plums and wild blueberries with suggestions of bouquet garni, black pepper, pencil lead and fertile loam plus a touch of beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is delicately played with beautiful definition and lots of red berry and earthy accents intertwined with the black fruits. Supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes long and mineral laced. Rating: 95+

Very full juicy with great strength deep ruby off dry Rioja. Medium/heavy body with medium tannins & acidity that are well balanced and textured. Lovely bouquet of cherry, oak, red currant & vanilla on nose. The palate adds strawberries & mushrooms. On mouth & throughout smoked oak flavors elegantly massages while gentle notes of cedar & earthy hints add another dimension to the olfactory & taste incredible experience. Long, suave & firm finish with bits of spice at end.

Regular Bordeaux white wine, there is no classification for white wines in the Medoc region. This alto is a blend of 70% Sémillon added with the remainder of SB. Again a 4 star wine this one! Indeed with a super nose and fine body which has more greasy notes on top of the fruits, the wood, also fine spices and a great balance! Long lasting finish.
