Most Lao Banzhang tea trees were planted in 1476, more than 500 years ago. Teas from old tea trees that are more than one thousand years old are extremely rare. The descendants of the Bulang people (who were descendants of the ancient Pu people) were the first people in the world to cultivate, produce and drink tea.
