Fujian Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) is a renowned premium Oolong tea originating from Anxi County, Fujian Province. Crafted from tender leaves of the Tieguanyin tea cultivar, this semi-fermented tea is celebrated for its rich floral aroma, creamy texture, and long-lasting huigan (sweet aftertaste). Sourced from mist-covered mountains at 800–1,500 meters altitude, it embodies the essence of Anxi Oolong craftsmanship.
Origin:Anxi, Fujian | Sort:Oolong Tea (Semi-Fermented) | Level:Premium Grade |
Season:Spring & Autumn | Caffeine:☆☆☆☆ | Storage:Store in airtight tins/jars in a cool, dry, dark place; avoid moisture and odors. |
Traditional Tieguanyin craftsmanship involves 5 key steps: 1. Withering: Fresh leaves are sun/air-dried to reduce moisture and soften. 2. Yaoqing (Shaking): Leaves are gently shaken in bamboo baskets to bruise edges, initiating oxidation and releasing orchid-like aromas. 3. Fixation: Stir-frying at high heat to halt oxidation and lock in flavor. 4. Rolling & Shaping: Mechanically rolled into tight, spiral pellets ("dragon pearl" shape). 5. Baking: Low-temperature charcoal roasting (optional) to enhance depth and mellowness.
The dry tea features tight, curly pellets with a sandy green hue and slight white fuzz, resembling tiny emerald beads. The aroma is rich and complex, blending orchid flowers, ripe banana, and a subtle roasted nutty note.
Brewed liquor is a bright golden-yellow with a translucent sheen, showcasing a smooth, velvety texture and a warm, inviting glow.
On the palate, it delivers a creamy, full-bodied sweetness with upfront floral notes (reminiscent of magnolia and osmanthus), followed by a fruity undertone of ripe pear. The finish is long and refreshing, with a distinct huigan (sweet aftertaste) and minimal astringency. It retains its character through 7–9 infusions.
Rich in polyphenols and L-theanine, this tea supports: - Improved mental alertness and stress reduction - Enhanced fat metabolism and digestive health - Cardiovascular support by aiding cholesterol regulation - Skin rejuvenation through antioxidant activity - Hydration and balanced energy without caffeine crashes
Ideal for Oolong connoisseurs seeking the classic floral elegance of Anxi Tieguanyin, as well as beginners for its smooth, approachable profile. Perfect for daily enjoyment, afternoon tea, or paired with light snacks like almond cookies, fresh fruit, or steamed dim sum.
