Silver Needle is a fine white tea that contains high-level antioxidants. It is a white tea produced in Fujian Province in China. As with all white teas, it is best prepared with water below boiling (at around 75 to 80 degrees Celsius or 167 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit) and produces a slightly viscous glittering pale yellow that reflects light. White tea is said to smell of "fresh-cut hay" and the flavor is described as sweet, vegetal, and delicate. Steeping can be longer than other white teas; up to 5 minutes per brew.
The name Big Red Robe tea originates from a story during the Ming Dynasty that the mother of an Emperor was cured of an illness by an oolong tea. As a celebration, the Emperor sent men to Mount Wuyi to cover the bushes with big red robes. Those shrubs are still present today and only available in limited quantities.
Caramel Honjicha: This fragrant and refreshing brown-colored tea is made with processed green tea. After roasting green tea, the tea color changes to brown and roasting flavor is added. This tea is known to benefit both children and the elderly. Much of the caffeine is eliminated with roasting.
Sencha is the most common Japanese tea. It has a unique processing method where the fresh-picked leaves are immediately steamed before drying, rather than withered before drying (which would be like traditional Chinese green tea). Afterward, the leaves are heated to remove excess moisture and rolled into a needle-shape. Peach-flavored sencha is delicious.
Black tea comes from the areas on the borders with China, Burma, and Bangladesh. This full-bodied tea has a warm reddish color and a strong yet smooth taste. Black tea, called “red tea” in Chinese due to its bold reddish brownish brew, generally yields a bolder flavor and contains the most caffeine of all teas. Black tea is produced from mature leaves that are plucked early in the day and processed in 4 basic steps. First, the leaves are withered, laid out for 8-24 hours so that the moisture from the tea leaves can be evaporated. Second, they are rolled, which gives the leaves their form and appearance. Following they are fermented by placing them on an oxidation table, where the leaves turn black and that lends its distinctive flavor. Finally, the leaves are fired in large ovens at high temperatures.
Pu’er tea has beautifying and anti-aging benefits. It is a red fermented tea known to reduce harmful cholesterol, enhance digestion and reduce body fat. It has a rich earthy flavor and satisfying sweet aftertaste. It helps to detoxify the body, improve circulation and enhance vitality.
