Barbed Skullcap Herb/Ban Zhi Lian(8oz)
“Chinese Scutellaria is not Western skullcap herb. S. baicalensis, also known as Huang Qin or Chinese skullcap, is a root extract used in traditional medicine, often in combination with other herbs. Most studies have been conducted to prove that some cancer cell lines undergo cell death when exposed to extracts from this herb. (Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYC)
“Chinese skullcap is believed to be safe and well tolerated by adults. Side effects are few and may include drowsiness. People with diabetes should not take Chinese skullcap without consulting a doctor as it may lower blood sugar, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.
“Native to China and parts of Russia, Chinese skullcap has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat allergies, infections, inflammation, cancer, and headaches. It may also have antifungal and antiviral effects. (Penn State Hershey Medical Center)”
