  • Altagracia Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

Altagracia Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

The 2018 Altagracia Cabernet Sauvignon unfolds with a nose of intense black fruit, wild blueberries and fresh black currants with a whiff of dried violets and tobacco. The mouthfeel is ample but firm with mineral notes of volcanic rock, forest humus and hints of dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine shows great depth thanks to extended maceration, with a refined texture of tight-knit tannins supporting the energetic black and blue fruits. As the wine opens, layers of floral notes, peppercorn and cardamom add to the complexity. The long finish lingers with a touch of licorice. This is a very pure and elegant Altagracia. Deep purple-black in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Altagracia slowly grows on the nose, developing into profound scents of black currant cordial, baked plums and wild blueberries with suggestions of bouquet garni, black pepper, pencil lead and fertile loam plus a touch of beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is delicately played with beautiful definition and lots of red berry and earthy accents intertwined with the black fruits. Supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes long and mineral laced. Rating: 95+

  • Vieux Chateau Certan Pomerol 2013

    Vieux Chateau Certan Pomerol 2013

Rated 94 by Wine Enthusiast With a higher proportion of Merlot (92%) than usual, this is a round, ripe wine released at just 20% of normal production. The generous texture and tannins are well integrated into the rich fruit. It's juicy, broad and showing the typical acidity of the vintage. With its tannic structure, the wine will age well.

  • Chateau Musar Rouge Gaston Hochar Bekaa Valley 2014

Chateau Musar Rouge Gaston Hochar Bekaa Valley 2014

This 2014 is their classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan grown in gravelly soils at high elevations. These elevations temper the otherwise arid Mediterranean climate of the Bekaa Valley. Additionally, some of the vines here date back to the 1930s and all yields are EXTREMELY low. Because conditions were so hot and arid in 2014, harvest was carried out as meticulously as ever before: Musar had four separate teams combing their vines simultaneously! In the winery, the grapes underwent a long, varietal-separate, natural fermentation in concrete vessels for six months before being transferred into French oak barrels for one year. The individual varietal wines were then blended together in 2016 and sent into concrete yet again before an unfined and unfiltered bottling in July of 2017.

  • Forman Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

Forman Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018

96 points Vinous The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is silky and elegant, with lovely aromatic presence and impeccable balance. Sweet tobacco, cedar, dried flowers and mint all give this mid-weight Cabernet lovely complexity and nuance. The 2018 has shut down since I tasted it last year, but that is not surprising given the style here. Today, bright acids give the 2018 energy, tension and a good deal of precision. 96+ (AG)  (1/2022)
