  • J Charpentier Reserve Brut

    J Charpentier Reserve Brut

    J. Charpentier's Champagne Brut Réserve is made from grapes from different crus of the region (Reuil, Binson-Orquigny, Châtillon sur Marne, Villers sous Châtillon, Le Breuil, Neuville sur Seine, Ludes) and contains 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir. The history of the maison begins at the turn of the 20th century. Since then the generations have succeeded and the winery is still family-run today. The fermentation of the grapes takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature and is followed by the malolactic fermentation and the assembly of the reserve wines. Champagne rests on the lees for 30-36 months. In the glass the wine is brilliant, straw yellow in color, with a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose there are aromas of fresh yellow fruit, brioche and bread crust. In the mouth the wine is creamy, full-bodied and enveloping, with a good persistence.

  • Lanson Black Label Brut NV

    Lanson Black Label Brut NV

Winemaker Notes Black Label's brilliant color recalls the characteristic straw tones of the Pinot Noir, with glints of amber. It is lively in the flute, with a fine stream of persistent bubbles. Its fresh aromas combine the impression of vitality and spring-time scents, together with hints of toast and honey. On the palate, bouquets of ripe fruits and citrus create a sensation of opulence yet lightness. Critical Acclaim Wine Enthusiast Lanson’s famed nonvintage cuvée is back on form, giving a ripe style dominated by Pinot Noir. It has weight and already a fine balance between the fruits and touches of toast from four years on the lees. This bottling of this Champagne is very ready to drink. Decanter 50% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier from 100 villages in all, and including 30% reserves from 10 vintages back to 1995; a small proportion now being produced with malolactic. Black Label remains the confident barometer of Lanson, and Hervé Dantan’s first blend is a class act, a resounding statement of his talent in preserving the style and integrity of the house while meticulously polishing the edges. It’s a very important cuvée in the grand scheme of Champagne: one of the best and most consistent of the bargain set.

    Lanson Rose Brut NV

Winemaker Notes Lanson Rose has a beautiful pure color with pale salmon touches. Aromas of roses and fruit predominate, with discrete notes of red berries. The initial impression is tender, well-rounded and fresh. This wine has harmonious balance and good length on the finish. Delicious served with fresh red berry desserts or simply on its own. Critical Acclaim James Suckling A bright, fruity rosé with peaches and light strawberries. Tangerines, too. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture. This is a blended wine with only 7% red wines. Pretty red fruit with the same freshness as the normal black label. Very fresh and vivid. Four years on the lees. Drink now. • Laurent Perrier Brut La Cuvee

    Laurent Perrier Brut La Cuvee

Winemaker Notes The wine comes from the purest grape juice and it alone allows Laurent-Perrier to craft 'La Cuvée', a champagne of great finesse and a beautiful freshness obtained after a long ageing process in our cellars. • Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle N.26

    Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle N.26

Winemaker Notes Vintages in Champagne are synonymous with excellence despite significant variations in style, expression, and quality from one to another. Grand Siècle seeks a perfection beyond single vintages, with the ambition of recreating "the perfect year", one nature on its own cannot provide. The 26th iteration of Grand Siècle was released to great critical acclaim – including a perfect 100-point rating from James Suckling. A white gold in color with delicate and persistent bubbles, it offers a very complex nose which mixes honeysuckle, lemon, clementine and fresh butter aromas, followed by notes of hazelnut and a touch of honey. The feel in the mouth is very delicate and fresh with candied lemon and fresh hazelnut aromas. The palate is silky and mineral with notes of honeysuckle, flaked almonds and clementine. Grand Siècle Nº26 will pair beautifully with high quality produce and refined dishes, such as truffle, caviar, shellfish, noble fish and white meats.  Blend: 58% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir

  • Louis Roederer Cristal 2013 Champagne

    Louis Roederer Cristal 2013 Champagne

Excellent Champagne about which I've heard a lot but never tried before. It's known as the Champagne of tsars and the expectations are trully fulfilled! Great amalgam of aromas and feelings: complexity without departing from a fresh and relatively straighforward personality. Frank. Aromas of fresh citrics. Grapefruit. Green apple. Fresh white flowers. Coming from the background as a wave and gaining starring character in the front: briocherie, yeast. Flinstone. In mouth, a pure moussy delicacy.--Antoni Ferrer  I've revisited Roederer's 2013 Cristal four times since I reviewed it in April of this year—including several times from my own cellar—and I had to admit that even my lavish praise didn't do it full justice. Combining the cool-vintage cut of 2008 with the more completely mature fruit of 2012, the 2013 Cristal might well be said to represent the perfect combination of the two from a purist's perspective. The wine unwinds in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, almond paste and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional palate that's intense but weightless, with racy acids, a pinpoint mousse and a long, penetrating finish. Drink the 2008 Cristal on its own, and you're unlikely—to put it mildly—to have any complaints; but compare it directly with the 2013 and you'll see Roederer's rapid progress in the vineyards writ large. Louis Roederer Cristal Brut Rose Champagne 2014

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut Rose Champagne 2014

Winemaker Notes Intense, bright and luminous golden hue. Dynamic effervescence with a continuous stream of fine bubbles. Intense, fragrant bouquet of great purity. Concentrated and candied citrus fruit mingle delicately with notes of grain and lightly roasted almonds. The lovely sensation of big ripe fruit is balanced and lifted by energetic fresh tangy overtones. Fruity palate with a silky texture, complemented by soft bubbles that are perfectly integrated and deliciously elegant. The purity and perfection of the ripe yellow fruit melt into the intense chalky freshness typical of Cristal that is powdery and saline. Dense, juicy, concentrated, and long on the mid-palate, thanks to the spicy and sappy structure resulting from partial ageing in large oak vats (foudres). The finish builds to a crescendo, revealing a rich grainy and a velvety texture that is wrapped in a long, saline, and superbly elegant finish. Critical Acclaim Jeb Dunnuck Sourced from 39 plots, the 2014 Champagne Cristal is 60% Pinot Noir and the remainder Chardonnay, with 32% aged in oak, and it has 7 grams per liter dosage. It is highly expressive of classic elegance and purity, revealing aromas of crushed rock, almond croissant, and perfume of citrus blossoms. The palate is hyper-refined in its mousse, with pinpoint bubbles, a subtly rounded mid-palate, an irresistible chalky texture, and energy throughout its long and floral finish. Everything about this feels perfectly tailored.

  • Palmer & Co Grands Terroirs 2015

Palmer & Co Grands Terroirs 2015

Winemaker Notes: The 2015 vintage is blended from 50% Pinot Noir, 38% Chardonnay and 12% Pinot Meunier, sourced from Mailly and Verzenay as well as Trépail, Villers-Marmery, Ludes, Chigny-les-Roses and Rilly-la-Montagne. Palmer & Co refers to the vintage as “exceptional” because it combined high temperatures and little rainfall – spelling little disease pressure and even ripening.
