The 2018 vintage is no exception and introduces itself with explosive notes of blue and black fruits complimented by hints of signature violets and cocoa powder. Rich and decadent upon entry with flavors of chocolate covered blueberries and cassis that guide the way to a seamlessly rich mid palate. Significant in weight but velvet in texture this wine is dark, structured and beautifully graceful. Mouthwatering acidity carries through the seemingly endless finish. This hand selected, meticulously crafted Estate Cabernet is only beginning to show what it is capable of and will continue to evolve over the next 20 years. THE VINTAGE The 2018 growing season began with a mild, beautiful Spring which extended flowering and provided ideal conditions for berry set, thus yielding uniform grape clusters. Temperatures were warm and steady throughout the summer, with very few heat spikes or dry wind patterns which were quite impactful during the 2017 growing season. The 2018 harvest began approximately two weeks later than the previous few vintages and it continued until the end of October. There was a minor rain event on October 2nd and 3rd but it did not negatively impact grape quality. It simply provided a break in the harvest as we allowed for a few dry out days before resuming the harvest. This long, drawn out, bountiful harvest yielded beautiful, dense, concentrated wines with intense color and a unique freshness to them. THE VINEYARD Our 29 Estate Vineyard sits on a hillside just at the “pinch” of Napa Valley’s hourglass shape. Excellent airflow provides natural frost protection, while the fertile clay loam soils encourage deeply rooted vines, yielding powerfully concentrated cabernet sauvignon tempered by markedly floral, velvet elegance and explosive aromatic.

On the nose, there are aromas of raspberry, black plum, and blueberry, with more subtle oak aromas of cedar and allspice. Type: Bourbon, Whiskey (American) Producers: Kentucky Bourbon Distillers Size: 750ml Country: USA Region: Kentucky Made by Willett, this is a spicy bourbon. This bourbon stacks up well against much more expensive limited release offerings from other distillers, and at under $40, makes it a bargain value as well. Rowan’s Creek perhaps is a slightly less refined cousin to Noah’s Mill, and that’s definitely a good thing, as Noah’s Mill has been a personal favorite of ours for a few years now. Aroma: The initial nose is sweet with a discernible hint of peach and fruitiness. There is a light woody character to the aroma, but the oak scents are not prevalent, but a faint minty scent underlies the entire experience. Flavor: Right off the bat, the whiskey tastes slightly young. There is no bitterness, but just a touch of harshness that begs for another year or two in the barrel. It’s not an overpowering sensation, but was noted. A clove-like spiciness starts at the middle of the tongue and gives way to the aged caramel and oak flavors that were missing on the front of the tasting, at which point the age of the bourbon finally shines through and the initial bite subsides. If you add water it will certainly calm down the harshness at the front of the tongue, and bring out some hints of honey and cedar that were muted when taken neat. This is a bourbon that certainly stands up to water and ice, making it a great everyday drinker. Finish: It definitely tends just a touch towards the long side without being exaggerated. The oak, mint, and caramel remain evident throughout for a very pleasant overall finish.

MASH BILL: Undisclosed AGE: NAS – no age statement; a blend of 4-15 year-old whiskeys YEAR: 2017 PROOF: 114.3 (57.15% ABV) NOSE: Oak | Orange Peel | Walnut | Burnt Sugar | Alcohol | Tobacco   TASTE: Toffee | Cinnamon | Roasted Pecans | Light Spice | Acidic | Vanilla FINISH: Neat, there’s a solid burn throughout, but not unpleasant, especially for the proof with great toffee/dark caramel. Adding water, the sweeter elements come out more, with oak showing more with water. There’s an underlying fall spice that shows in the finish. And the finish is long and very pleasant, with notes of roasted nuts. This high-proof bourbon is made by the Willett distillery. The blend contains a range of bourbons, aged 4-20 years. Full of warm spices, brown sugar, cream, toasted nuts, and a whiff of mint.

Offers a luxuriously rich and velvety texture plus an array of gorgeous dark fruit flavors. We are particularly impressed by the approach-ability at such a young stage. The dense tannins remind me of plush cashmere in a glass and lead to full-throttle fruit notes of fresh figs, blackberry compote, and Toblerone chocolate combined with espresso on the blissful finish that lasts one full minute. Savor this magnificent wine now (after decanting) or anytime through 2029.

The incredible quality of the 2018 vintage is on full display in this Estate Merlot. The wine is sensationally dense with ripe plum, boysenberry, and blackberry that leap out of the glass and coat the palate. The smooth, rich fruit is complemented by milk chocolate, fresh tobacco, sandalwood, black licorice, violet, and mocha. The choreography of how the voluptuous fruit wraps around the volcanic minerality while merging with the velvety tannins makes for an intriguing ballet in the mouth that simply leaves you wanting more. Decant for one hour to let this beautiful peacock strut its stuff!
