The long leaf is twisted to make a “rope” like a bitter nail. The former is more commonly grown in Sichuan and Japan while the latter is most commonly grown and used mostly produced in the provinces of Yunnan, Hainan, and Fujian. In Chinese, "ku" means bitter, describing the taste, and "ding" means nail indicating the shape of the dry leaves. Your first impression is strong bitterness that makes your tongue numb followed by a slight bitter/sweet flavor like fresh bitter melon and a cooling refreshing feeling for the face, eyes and throat.  Kuding tea is a health and longevity tea. Because of its bitter, cleansing properties it is a slimming tea. It promotes blood circulation and improves the health of blood vessels. Kuding tea used regularly can reduce inflammation and ease pain, cleanse digestive and other toxins, reduce fat and blood pressure, and keep the body fit.
