Regular Bordeaux white wine, there is no classification for white wines in the Medoc region. This alto is a blend of 70% Sémillon added with the remainder of SB. Again a 4 star wine this one! Indeed with a super nose and fine body which has more greasy notes on top of the fruits, the wood, also fine spices and a great balance! Long lasting finish. Maggy Hawk Skycrest Vineyard Chardonnay 2019 Review Eighty miles north of San Francisco, near Mendocino, Anderson Valley is known mostly for its sparkling wine and Pinot Noir. Of course, Chardonnay is a bubbly ingredient and Maggie Hawk shows us a nice example of what still wine from this grape can achieve here. Stone fruit and wafts of white pepper populate the nose. It has bright acidity that is perceptible but is mostly doing work keeping the wine in balance. It allows the fruity to have some depth but keeps it creamy. The alcohol is kept in check, filling the gaps with depth.

Quality oak, butterscotch, caramel, vanilla, tropical fruits, zest, pineapple, floral, bright, Long finish. Nice minerality, stone fruit. Brioche notes demonstrate the quality ageing and oak used. Winemaker Notes:  This wine has a delicate character with notes of butter, citrus, lime blossom, cinnamon and flint. This 2018 vintage has a well-defined bouquet with mineral, crushed stone, jasmine and yellow plum notes. The palate is well balanced and concentrated with long finish.CRITICAL ACCLAIMBurghound - "A restrained, cool and airy nose features notes of green apple, lemon rind and Chablis-like oyster shell nuances. There is reasonable mid-palate density to the delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that brim with minerality on the lingering finish. This is still of course very young but it's somewhat one-dimensional and while more depth should certainly develop, it's hard to say how much. (90-92pts)"

Grand and evocative with an attractive complexity. The glass uncovers a bright golden core with a lively rim. Aromas are led by sun-kissed Amalfi lemon peel with layers of honeysuckle and mandarin blossom wrapped in citron, a hint of hazelnut, and spice. The mouthfeel is generous and multidimensional, showing layers of beeswax and chalky limestone with an uplifting acidity and a long finish. A wonderful wine that while clearly young shows incredible promise. Rich, elegant and complex, with good intensity, balance and length. Peach, Meyer lemon, slate, cream, honeysuckle and a hint of chamomile.

Winemaker Notes Sourced from a small selection of our favourite Semillon blocks, the grapes were both hand and machine picked before gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then spent a few months on yeast lees to gain extra complexity and mouth feel.
