Wine Critic Reviews: This wine has a lovely complexity with balance and lift and does that thing where it waits for a heartbeat, then makes you wait for a heartbeat, before releasing its stone fruit and succulent, slate-tinged citrus.The plots are on the west side of the appellation, often 1.5oC lower than at main Lynch Bages, with more limestone in the subsoils helping keep the balance that is evident here.Two thirds of the juice was fermented in barrels with one third in stainless steel – it’s juicy and pretty much ready to go (it bottles in two weeks). 50% new oak used. 3.08pH. Blackberry, cocoa, and black peppercorn unite on the layered palate with complex notes dark berry and cassis with highlights of bay, anise and mocha. Full yet elegant on the palate, with vibrant fruit and very approachable tannins with hints of nutmeg and vanilla bean add to the long persistent finish.

Details Tightly coiled and tense at first. Slowly and steadily hinting at the incredible power and concentration in the glass. Orange blossom, beeswax, gunflint, marzipan and Meyer lemon. Precise and powerful on the palate. Solid core of citrus fruit, almond and loquat. Touch of toasted oak. Fresh and light as a feather on the long finish. Hint of malolactic softness and roundness. Pure 2015 with everything in its right place and all senses elevated to a higher level.
