On the palate gripping, dense tannin, unfolds into countless layers, still seems very young, but has a lot of substance, hearty and long. Dry, medium + acidity, medium + nice well intergated velvet tannins, high alc, full body, pronounced flavours of raspberry, red cherry, plum, nice chalky minerality, bitter chocolate, coffee, saltiness, blood. Blindfaith Pilot Wine#1 Lovely colour – not much age here was my initial impression Nose: Dark flowers, vibrant blackcurrant, blackberry. Floral, fruity, slightly dusty black fruit note. Not sure what I'm talking about there, but it shouted Tuscany at me. Tangy, bold – intense black fruit – lively acidity and firm but smooth tannin. Raw spice and herbs again suggesting youth. But punchy and delicious. Guess: Tuscan, BDX Blend, 2015 vintage? Reveal: Wasn’t too far off! My favourite of the pair. -John Mobbs

This is a Paso Robles estate Rose. It’s an interesting Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Counoise and Carignan blend. The color is a beautiful salmon. The nose is citrusy and floral. This wine’s acidity is lively on your palate with a predominance of grapefruit. The finish is clean and I think this would go well with something spicy such as Thai food. Perhaps a little overpriced.

Racy and exuberant on the palate, with terrific fruit density, the 2015 Barbaresco Nubiola captures the exuberant side of the year nicely. Sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint, licorice and orange peel all flesh out in the glass. In 2015, the Nubiola – which can be a bit lean – is nicely filled out. Pliant, deep and powerful, the 2015 appears to have a very bright future. Best of all, the 2015 will drink well with minimal cellaring. 93 Pts Antonio Galloni, Vinous
