There is a hint of the exotic about the making of Delamotte Rosé champagne, and perhaps a little eccentricity too! It is made with the traditional bleeding technique rarely used in Champagne. Color and aromatic range are extracted from the grape skin. How? They are left to macerate in their skin before and/or during fermentation. This delivers an elegant and structured wine thanks to Grand Cru Pinot Noir growing on the south-east facing hillsides of the Montagne de Reims: Ambonnay, Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne. In association with Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger, this rosé is a dazzling salmon pink in color, with an amazingly complex wine sparkling beneath. After bottling, Delamotte Rosé matures for around three years on the lees before disgorgement. TASTING NOTES This is a refined, somewhat smoky wine, the stuff that dreams are made of - for an afternoon or at dessert time, with perhaps a raspberry charlotte or a red fruit coulis. PAIRING The ideal accompaniments for this sophisticated wine with slightly smoky notes are raspberry charlotte, red fruit soups and sugary desserts of the kind that Marcel Proust would surely never forget.

Quite impressive Chardonnay, that starts with a little fizz, and with all the chalk from behind, it makes you think of champagne. Chalky, mineral, with lots of stone fruits, iodine, mild tangerines & grapefruit zest, some flowers and pastry notes. Fermentation and ageing in concrete tanks, no sulfur added. Vertical wine, with racy acidity and weight in the palate. Amazing value.

On the palate, dry, medium + acid, medium - body, medium + tannin, medium alcohol, finish is medium. Medium flavors of mushroom, star anise, and coco. Quality is very good. Can drink now; but has the potential for ageing or further ageing.

Our Merlot vineyard is in the Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley, and is nestled up to the Mayacamas Mountain Range on the west side of the valley. The mild climate and alluvial soils in this region lend this wine great balance and structure. The mild temperatures allow these grapes to develop bright aromatics and flavors, along with a beautiful natural acidity and elegance. The alluvial soils bring darker fruits to the nose and palate, and give this wine its structure and concentration. The 2019 vintage has a beautiful and complex nose black cherry, boysenberry jam, plum, and fresh cut flowers come through first, then cardamom, nutmeg, and a touch of cocoa and vanilla enter giving the nose depth and intrigue. The palate too has great depth and complexity flavors of red cherries, muddled berries, and dried herbs, with a creamy texture and silky tannin complimented by a fresh, vibrant acidity.

Final surplus bottle from BF S4. A genius selection from Giles Hannam and a special wine I'll remember for a long time. When not tasting blind I'm getting much more enjoyment. The spicy lees complexity + stoney mineral complexity combined w citrus, floral + white peach make for a profound combination. Alsation-like contrast between weight/texture + long, pointed, acid-boosted shape. Class in a glass. Scoring up from 4.1 earlier in the year.

Robert Modavi's To Kalon vineyard Cab Sauv has great balance, and long finish. Long time ago had this and did not have to wait long..just 20min swirling in the glass it almost showed it's full potential with aromas of oaky violet vanilla and dark chocolate, also joyful on the palate with multipul layers of flavour. So savoury and elegant as well. I really loved the full course of drinking(2hrs..) One of my fave..
