桂花（学名：Osmanthus fragrans，英文别称「sweet olive」）,桂花味香，持久，可制糕点（桂花糕）、糖果，并可酿酒。此外，亦常制成桂花糖、桂花湯圓、桂花釀（與蜂蜜泡制而成）、桂花酱等。

桂花味辛，可入药。有化痰、止咳、生津、止牙痛等功效。

古人认为桂为百药之长，所以用桂花酿制的酒能达到「饮之寿千岁」的功效。像是汉代时，桂花酒就是人们用来敬神祭祖的佳品，祭祀完毕，晚辈向长辈敬用桂花酒，长辈们喝下之后则象征了会延年益寿。该酒香甜醇厚，有开胃醒神、健脾补虚的功有。桂花酒尤其适用于女士饮用，被赞誉为“妇女幸福酒”。祖国医学中有花疗的理论实践，桂花酒就是典型的实例。

Sweet-scented osmanthus has a long-lasting fragrance. It has been used in baking (osmanthus cake), candy- and wine-making. In addition, it is often made into osmanthus sugar, sweet-scented osmanthus glutinous rice balls, osmanthus sauce, and so on. 

Osmanthus is pungent and can be used as medicine. It is traditionally used in 

• Resolving phlegm
• Relieving cough, 
• Promoting body fluid
• Relieving toothache. 

The ancients believed that the osmanthus flower improves longevity so drinking tea or wine made with osmanthus is like "drinking a thousand years of life."
