Domaine de la Grace d’Ornon is the second wine of Château Pontac Monplaisir, property of the Maufras family since 1920. Acquired by Auguste Maufras on this date, it belongs today to Alain Maufras. The willigness of this family: performance and quality thanks to their know-how and their knowledge of the vineyard. The Castle is located in the municipality of Villenave d’Ornon. The vines adjoin those of Carbonnieux and Couhins. The vineyard now covers 16 hectares, 13 of which are devoted to red wine. The grape variety is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. At the tasting, Domaine de la Grace d’Ornon will seduce you with its subtle dress, its fine and elegant nose and its mouth revealing an aptitude for a slight aging.

Star bright gold. Clean, crisp, creamy and has a good minerality. Japanese tsubu-an (boiled red bean paste) in Taiyaki sweets and moderately floral aroma on nose. Medium- sweetness, Medium- acidity, light body. Slight grapefruit pith which nicely tightens aftertastes. Paired great with a cold pumpkin soup. --Tango K

This wine incorporates grapes from the elite Cru appellations of Vacqueyras and Rasteau as well as Côtes-du-Rhône Villages sites in Roaix and Séguret. A piercing blackberry and bramble-scented blend of Grenache and Syrah sourced from limestone soils, it's an approachably fruity introduction to Santa Duc's majestic (and more expensive wines) but maintains a trademark vitality and finesse.
