  • Domaine Leflaive Macon Verze Les Chenes 2020

Domaine Leflaive Macon Verze Les Chenes 2020

Winemaker Notes Located in Mâcon, two parcels of this vineyard were purchased by Domaine Leflaive in 2003. It is made up of vines as old as 85 years and grows on shallow calcareous clay, resulting in a slightly more complex, fuller-bodied bottling from Mâcon-Village. Hand harvested, sorted, and pressed in Mâcon, the wine is decanted overnight and then brought back to Puligny for both fermentation and aging at the Domaine. The wine ages 12 months in oak (20% new) then 6 months in stainless steel vat before bottling.

  • Domaine Sylvain Bailly Terroirs Sancerre 2022

Domaine Sylvain Bailly Terroirs Sancerre 2022

This is our favorite Sancerre value discovery. It is tender and delicate on the nose, with fine grapefruit and orange zest aromas. The palate is frank and fresh, with a supple attack with an excellent finish. It is a wine that offers a beautiful balance between fruit and freshness. It is a lovely fruit-forward crowd-pleasing Sancerre with great zip. Our favorite part is the value this delicious Sancerre offers, at under $25. Enjoy as an aperitif or easily pair with a whole meal, ideally with spicy and exotic dishes. --Zachys

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Les Languettes 2018

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Les Languettes 2018

Winemaker Notes:  This wine has a delicate character with notes of butter, citrus, lime blossom, cinnamon and flint. This 2018 vintage has a well-defined bouquet with mineral, crushed stone, jasmine and yellow plum notes. The palate is well balanced and concentrated with long finish.CRITICAL ACCLAIMBurghound - "A restrained, cool and airy nose features notes of green apple, lemon rind and Chablis-like oyster shell nuances. There is reasonable mid-palate density to the delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that brim with minerality on the lingering finish. This is still of course very young but it's somewhat one-dimensional and while more depth should certainly develop, it's hard to say how much. (90-92pts)"

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre L'Enclos des Remparts Loire Valley 2013

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre L'Enclos des Remparts Loire Valley 2013

Winemaker Notes A vibrant, 100% organic/biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc from a mix of flint and chalk soils in the heart of Sancerre. Aromas suggest grapefruit zest and gunflint; in the mouth the wine is pure and fresh, with plenty of mineral energy and citrus flavors. Indispensable with fresh oysters or young goat cheese. The Vacheron family is one of the older and certainly most respected producers of organic wines in the Loire Valley.

    Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Roche-Roulee 2018

    Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Roche-Roulee 2018

This wine is made from all the very old Gewurztraminer vines planted in the Turckheim/Herrenweg vineyards. Some of these vineyards are also located in the richest part of the valley floor, where the gravels are mixed with by richer silt. With deeper roots and richer soils available to them, these vines didn’t suffer from drought. The ripeness progressed quickly in 2018. Gewurztraminer is a wine that can surprisingly ferment fast, which is handy, as a higher pH would expose these wines to more problems if the fermentation would last too long. The 2018 grapes were beautiful and healthy.

  • Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Turckheim 2019

    Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Turckheim 2019

The Gewurztraminer is still probably the most important grape variety in Turckheim in terms of acreage planted. The precocious and dry climate would help to ripen a grape variety that needs and enjoys some warmth and sunshine during the ripening period prior harvest. Something that is abundant in Turckheim! The 2019 vintage had the right weather combination for this grape variety. Some millerandage and coulure, due to colder temperatures around flowering, also dropped the yields by 10 to 20%. This wasn’t a problem, and on the contrary it helped the grapes to get more concentrated in flavours. 2019 is probably on of the nicest vintage for Gewurztraminer in this area for many years. The wine, slightly richer than usual, didn’t finish to ferment dry and kept a very small amount of residual sweetness.

  • Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Granitique 2018

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Granitique 2018

This wine is in fact the ‘second’ wine of our Grand Cru Brand, produced by the youngest vines there. Youngest, yes, at 36 years old average, because the oldest vines are much older and do produce a very different wine! In 2018, we also added the very small production of the young vines of the Sommerberg Grand Cru that was planted in 2013. I didn’t change the average age of the vines becomes it represented less than 10% of the total volume. Mea Culpa! These granitic vineyard enjoy some of the most precocious, warm, sun drenched situation in Alsace, and are growing on very poor sandy soil that looks very dry when there is no regular rain. Despite that, the vines were beautifully green throughout summer. That can be explained by the possibility these vines have to grow deeper root system and then find finer elements (clay originating from the black mica) and some humidity. In 2018, the grapes ripened quickly and reached a perfect balance, it wasn’t easy for the vines, but the stress was under control. The 2018 wine fermented very slowly but kept a steady pace and finished dry.

  • Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Roulee Alsace 2018

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Roulee Alsace 2018

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Roulee Alsace 2018 The nose shows intense white fruit aromas, classic Riesling intensity without the more stony character often found on richer wines. The palate feels surprisingly intense, while finishing very dry but without any tightness. An easy wine to enjoy in its youth. Enjoy as an aperitif or with shellfish or light, white fish varieties.
