The profile of this wine allows for immediate consumption, but it will evolve positively in the bottle for at least 3 years. The profile of this wine makes it an ideal accompaniment for fish dishes, fresh salads and seafood. It is also a wonderful aperitif. Its freshness makes it very suitable for drinking outside of mealtimes.

Final surplus bottle from BF S4. A genius selection from Giles Hannam and a special wine I'll remember for a long time. When not tasting blind I'm getting much more enjoyment. The spicy lees complexity + stoney mineral complexity combined w citrus, floral + white peach make for a profound combination. Alsation-like contrast between weight/texture + long, pointed, acid-boosted shape. Class in a glass. Scoring up from 4.1 earlier in the year.

Benito Santos Description Benito Santos is a central figure in the modern history of Albariño and the Rías Baixas D.O. He began working in his grandfather’s vineyards in the 1930s and made wine for serving in his bar – wines that repeatedly won prizes in the annual Fiesta de Albariño in Cambados. He was instrumental in the creation of the Rías Baixas D.O. in the 1980s. The current owners now farm three vineyards in the Val do Salnés subzone of Rías Baixas, each of which is next to and named after an ancient church: Saiar, Bemil, and Xoan. All of the vineyards are now certified organic – a rarity in rainy, mildew-prone Rías Baixas – and winemaking uses only native yeasts and minimal sulfur. Benito Santos wines are salty, mineral, and structured, with ample fruit but none of the overly tropical flavors of many industrially-produced Albariños. Wine Notes: From a vineyard in Salnés; vinified in tank with minimal sulfur. The wine spends a few months on the lees before bottling.

Katsunuma is the winegrowing center of Japan, and Koshu grapes have been grown there for more than 1,200 years. Geographic features of Katsunuma have been formed by Mountains and alluvial fans shaped by rivers. The peaks of the Japanese Alps can be seen from every single point of our Isehara parcel.

Wine Critic Reviews: This wine has a lovely complexity with balance and lift and does that thing where it waits for a heartbeat, then makes you wait for a heartbeat, before releasing its stone fruit and succulent, slate-tinged citrus.The plots are on the west side of the appellation, often 1.5oC lower than at main Lynch Bages, with more limestone in the subsoils helping keep the balance that is evident here.Two thirds of the juice was fermented in barrels with one third in stainless steel – it’s juicy and pretty much ready to go (it bottles in two weeks). 50% new oak used. 3.08pH. Made with the indigenous Hondarribi Zuri grape variety, this wonderful Txakoli (pronounced cha-co-li) is a brilliantly zesty example of this intriguing wine.  Bodegas Katxina strive to produce the healthiest fruit possible with which to make clean, crisp and enjoyable wine.  The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness in October and are pressed very gently to protect the delicate fruit characters of the grape.  Following a cool fermentation the wine sits on it’s lees for 3 – 4 months at 4 degrees celsius helping to retain it’s gentle spritz.  Super fresh, with lovely aromatics and crisp, zesty finish, this is a great aperitif style and also perfect for shellfish dishes.

Sourced from the Tenuta La Meirana in the Gavi di Gavi DOCG. The oldest document which states the origin of the name “Gavi” is preserved at the record Office in Genova mentions vineyard and chestnut woods on a spot called Meirana. That document dates back to 971 A.D.The Cortese varietal grape vines here average 30 years of age. After hand harvest, the grapes are fermented in Stainless steel tanks and aged there on the lees 6 months before bottling.James Suckling scored this 91 points saying "Lightly honeyed lemon aromas with hints of dried herbs and orange zest. Full-bodied with a dense, silky mineral underlay to the bright, lemony flavors. Despite the density here, it remains bright through the long finish. Drink now."
