  • GKG Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

    GKG Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

    Out of stock

Winemaker Notes The 2015 vintage opens with gentle aromas of ripe cherries, cassis and hints of violet and sage. Its immediate accessibility on the palette offers up elegant notes of black cherries, crème de menthe and sage with an underlying belly of gravelly notes and minerality. As the wine expands on the mid-palette, the soft tannins and smooth acidity help extract the subtle notes of rich boysenberry, ripe cherry and plum to take center stage. The understated flavors of red licorice and tobacco help finesse the 2015 vintage to its long, elegant and complex finish. Best drunk at cellar temperature and decanted for a half hour before consumption. Critical Acclaim Robert Parker's Wine Advocate This wine is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 1% Malbec, coming from the Lewelling Vineyard and aged for 18 months in French oak, 60% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers notes of red and black currants, mulberries and warm plums with touches of cedar chest and lavender. Medium to full-bodied with great elegance and bags of finesse, it features very fine-grained, silky tannins and a long, perfumed finish. 225 cases were made

  • Grgich Hill Estate Library Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Grgich Hill Estate Library Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon enters the glass with a ruby red to brick red color. On the nose it opens with warm notes of strawberry and cranberry and a hint of persimmon and tamarind. Aromas of plum and dried stone fruit emerge after that, with undertones of petrichor and sandalwood. On the palate, this wine is extraordinarily balanced with a soft and sapid tannin structure and a subtle fresh acidity. Nimble and precise red berry fruit aromas dominate the front palate while the mid palate demonstrates considerable aromatic complexity of red stone fruit and orange rind with earthy and savory undertones. This wine is developing gracefully in the bottle, showing a still vivacious freshness on the front palate yet developing the complex aromatics of a mature Cabernet Sauvignon on the mid palate.

  • Grgich Hills Chard 2015 750ml

    Grgich Hills Chard 2015 750ml

The Wine: Miljenko “Mike” Grgich has been called “The King of Chardonnay” since the winery began in 1977, and you can taste why in this classically-styled wine. We did not allow the Chardonnay to undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving its natural acidity. The wine displays ripe peach, mango and tropical flavors, with a note of minerality. Enjoy with fresh seafood, roasted chicken, grilled pork, and creamy cheeses. Vintage: The 2015 vintage was nearly perfect, with consistent sunshine and moderate temperatures. After a wet start to winter in 2012, spring was warmer than usual, triggering an early bud break and flowering and fruit set under sunny skies. With only one heat spike in late June/early July, Napa’s typical warm days and cool nights created wonderfully flavorful grapes. We started harvesting about two weeks earlier than usual and never seemed to stop with grapes coming in at a steady pace. Vineyard: Our Chardonnay thrives in our American Canyon and Carneros vineyards in the southern tip of Napa Valley, near San Pablo Bay, which spills into the San Francisco Bay. The cool maritime breezes and morning fog allow the grapes to slowly ripen to develop complex flavors while maintaining a pleasing natural acidity that is impossible to achieve in warmer areas. We farm all of our vineyards naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and they are certified organic. The winemaker did not allow this Chardonnay to undergo malolactic fermentatin, preserving its natural acidity. The wine displays ripe peach, mango and tropical flavors, with a note of minerality.

  • Grgich Hills Yountville Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Grgich Hills Yountville Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

We relied on indigenous years for fermentation and then aged the wine in new French oak barrels for 22 months. This is a full-bodied and well balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with rich flavors of blackberries, black licorice and a hint of allspice with a long, seductive finish. Having the patience to cellar this wine will reward you in the glass years from now. Serve with simply roasted meat dishes or all by itself to fully enjoy the wine's complex flavors. Wine Advocate WA92-95 The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville Old Vine has an opaque ruby/purple color and should prove really spectacular. Stunning richness, great color, loads of flavor and layers of intensity and richness balanced together in a full-bodied format make for quite a potentially special Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Enthusiast WE94 Tight-grained tannins lie beneath a sleek, sophisticated structure of ageworthy complexity in this old-vine wine made from grapes planted in 1959. Intensely layered, it shows wisps of currant, pencil shavings and anise-seasonings for a lush backdrop of brambly blackberry. Enjoy 2023-2033.

Hayfork Cabernet Sauvignon St Helena Napa 2016

Hayfork Cabernet Sauvignon St Helena Napa 2016

Details I loved the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Lewelling Ranch from winemaker Haley Wight, a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot that spent 20 months in 75% new French oak. It shines for its purity and elegance just as much as its richness and depth and gives up medium to full-bodied notes of red and blue fruits, violets, and espresso roast. With silky, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish, it tastes like it cost 2-3 times the price. 790 cases.Jeb Dunnuck | 95 JD
