  • Finca Allende Rioja Tempranillo 2015

    Finca Allende Rioja Tempranillo 2015

Founded in 1986 by Miguel Ángel de Gregorio in the hillside town of Briones, Finca Allende is located in an ancient 17th century manor, set in a medieval town square within the heart of Rioja Alta. Roughly translated as ‘further,’ Allende’s philosophy is to go further towards creating the perfect Rioja. The majority of vines are plowed with mules and grapes are hand-harvested, triple-selected and manually punched-down before undergoing extensive underground aging in both barrel and bottle. Known for producing round wines with great body and structure, each bottle is hand-crafted by and contains the signature of Miguel Ángel de Gregorio. Considered to be Spain’s first terroirs, Miguel Ángel’s sincere dedication to natural farming and preserving the integrity of Rioja Alta are why he is one of Rioja’s most celebrated winemakers and a mastermind when it comes to making world-class Tempranillo.

  • Gaja Sori Tildin Barbaresco DOCG 2015

Gaja Sori Tildin Barbaresco DOCG 2015

Winemaker Notes Deep purple color. Shows fresh and balsamic first notes, with aromas of lavender, basil, freshly-cut grass. Then it turns into a spicy and smoky character, with white pepper, clove and cinnamon. The palate is compact and clean, with notes of red apple, wild strawberry, blood orange, and licorice. Firm, fine-grained tannins keep this wine tightly wound, leading to the great aging potential. Barbaresco is a great food wine. Traditionally served with roasted braised meat such as beef, pork and boar, Barbaresco is actually very versatile: owing to its high acidity and red fruit profile. It pairs well with roasted chicken, veal, game birds and even seafood. Heartier pasta and risotto dishes are other obvious pairings, as are aged Italian cheeses. Critical Acclaim James Suckling Aromas of asphalt and tar that turn to dried strawberries, plums and citrus fruit. Full body, yet agile and very refined with a beautiful balance of fruit, tannins and acidity. Extremely persistent and focused finish. All about harmony and strength. Drink in 2022.

  • Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja CVNE

    Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja CVNE

97 points James Suckling  This is very ripe with blackberries, dried fruit, toasted oak and black licorice on the nose. Full-bodied with ultra-fine, linear tannins and a racy, refined finish. This has fantastic structure and length. It goes on for minutes. It needs time to open and refine even more. One of the best Imperiale Gran Reservas in a very long time.  (9/2021) 95 points John Gilman  The 2015 Imperial Gran Reserva is crafted from a constellation of eighty-five percent Tempranillo, ten percent Graciano and five percent Mazuelo this year. Like the Contino Gran Reserva, this wine tips the scales at fourteen percent alcohol in 2015 and offers up a pure, nascently complex and sappy nose of black raspberries, black cherries, Cuban cigar wrapper, a lovely base of soil tones, toasted coconut, a touch of cedar, fresh nutmeg and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, refined, deep and full, with a great core of fruit, impeccable focus and balance, ripe, firm tannins and a long, tangy and nascently complex finish. This is going to be an absolutely superb vintage of Imperial Gran Reserva, but it is even younger than the Viña Real Gran Reserva out of the blocks and will need a bit more cellaring to soften up. In due course, it is going to be a stunning wine! (Drink between 2031-2080)  (6/2021)

  • Juan Gil Shaya Rueda 2015

    Juan Gil Shaya Rueda 2015

On the nose it displays toasty baking spices, nutmeg, spring flowers, marzipan, and pit fruits. The partial oak and lees aging gives this Verdejo additional roundness, complexity, and length. 100% Verdejo planted on sandy, alluvial pebble covered soils - many of the old vines are ungrafted - at the high altitudes of the Spanish Meseta, west of Segovia. An intense contintental climate provides ample sunshine for the Verdejo to develop rich aromas of peaches, pears, and tropical fruits, while the high altitudes bring cool nights that ensure balanced acidity that keeps these wines fresh. Vines are dry-farmed without use of pesticides or herbicides, hand-harvested and 20% are fermented in large, neutral French oak barrels while the rest ferments in stainless steel. This partial oak aging results in a Verdejo that shows some toasty notes of baking spice and marzipan that complement the bright peaches and pears. Dry-farmed, no pesticides or herbicides, hand-harvested, Vegan

  • Mas d En Gil Bellmut Vi de Vila 2018

Mas d En Gil Bellmut Vi de Vila 2018

A biodynamic Priorat comprising Garnacha & Carignan, this was quite unlike many other examples I’ve tried, reminding of Nebbiolo. Pale ruby. Pronounced aroma intensity w. cherry, black cherry, raspberry & dried red flowers. Quite tarry w. loganberry & earthy plum & liquorice root. Blind I’d be in Piemonte. Developing. Dry. Quite rustic w. structured m+ tannins, m+ alc & juicy m+ acid. Grippy cherry, raspberry, raspberry pip, loganberry & plum. M+ bodied w. a m+ finish. An all round very enjoyable drop. -- Andy B
