香港美心 2023金装彩月 月餅(6块/盒) Mei-Xin 2023Golden Moon Assembled Mooncakes (6pc/Box) Why is there a round egg yolk baked in an autumn festival Mooncake? It’s the moon! On Mid-Autumn Festival, the full moon night of the eighth lunar month, an open-air altar is set up facing the moon for the worship of Chang'e the beautiful Goddess of the Moon. New Moon Cakes are put on the altar for her to bless so that she endows her worshippers with great beauty. Since the Zhou dynasty (1045-221 BC) Chinese Emperors have worshipped the moon in autumn to bring a bumper harvest the following year. The Moon Festival aka Harvest Moon Festival is celebrated mainly in Chinese and Vietnamese communities also all across East Asia including China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. However, families across the world observe the holiday by gathering for dinners. The festival has been celebrated since the early Tang dynasty (618–907). While it has no fixed date on the calendar, it traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month – a full moon day. This year's celebrations start on September 29, 2023
