The Moon Festival is celebrated mainly in Chinese and Vietnamese communities and also all across East Asia including China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. However, families across the world observe the holiday by gathering for dinners. The festival has been celebrated since the early Tang dynasty (618–907). While it has no fixed date on the calendar, it traditionally falls on the 15th day of the eighth month – a full moon day. This year's celebrations start on September 29, 2023
The story of Chang'E and the Jade Rabbit is the most renowned tale of its origin. Chang’E drank the Elixir of Immortality, ascended to Heaven, and became the Goddess of the Moon.
