Join Kris Jones this Thursday when he visits the W Bar to pour a lineup of the impressive Peter Franus wines. Winemaker, Peter Franus has been been passionately making wines in Napa Valley under his eponymous Peter Franus label for over 30 years. Known as an "insiders secret in the wine industry," Franus operates according to a very simple, but important philosophy: "Great wine comes from great vineyards." Franus focuses on grapes grown on hillsides and mountains - rich, flavorful fruit - and in particular the area of Mt. Veeder, known for its great Cabernets, chock full of refreshing acidity, fresh fruit, and great ageing potential.
Indeed, you will tasting the Cab on Thursday, and it is delicious! Franus also makes a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc which has made 24th place on the Wine Specatator's top-100 list. The 2017 Sauv Blanc is pure with a creamy texture and notes of tropical and citrus fruit. But the wines that Franus is most famous for, are his Zinfandels - in particular the Brandlin VIneyard Zin which is a frequent award winner, full of aromas of dark fruits, berries, lavender, white pepper, and spices. That and the spectacular Red Hills Zin from Lake County - you're in for a treat.
